Ridebay terms of use

Version: 2026-11-03

1. Who we are

Ridebay is an app made by Matera Capital Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17008036), registered office: Clarence Gate Gardens, London, NW1 6AL, United Kingdom. Contact for support, privacy and legal matters: contact@materacapital.com. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there.

Ridebay is free. It has no paid features, subscriptions or advertising.

You accept these terms when you continue past the first screen of the app. The app keeps on your phone which version you accepted and when. If we change them, the app asks you to accept the new version before you carry on.

2. What Ridebay is

Ridebay shows where motorcycles and scooters can park in London and what the rules say, from council data and OpenStreetMap. It is an information tool. Bay data may be incomplete or out of date, and a rule we show may be wrong. The signs and road markings at the bay always take priority over anything the app shows.

3. Parking is your responsibility

We do not guarantee that a bay exists, is free, is legal to use at a given time, or has space. You remain responsible for checking the signs, parking lawfully and paying any charge. Ridebay does not take or process parking payments.

4. Use the app safely

Do not use Ridebay while riding. The app pauses itself while it detects that you are moving; pull over before you use it. A passenger may continue.

5. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Your rights as a consumer are not affected.

Ridebay is a free information service provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it is accurate, complete, up to date or always available.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for:

Apart from the liability in the first paragraph of this section, and to the extent the law allows, we have no liability to you for anything arising from Ridebay, which is free.

6. Changes to the service

Because Ridebay is free, we may change, pause or stop it, or any of its features, at any time. You can stop using it whenever you like, and delete your data in Settings → Delete my data.

7. Your contributions

This version of Ridebay takes no reports. When it does, this section applies. When you report a problem, add a bay or answer "Did you use the bay?", you confirm that what you send is accurate to your knowledge. What you send is published as part of the Ridebay bay database under the Open Database License 1.0, without your Ridebay ID. Do not include anyone else's personal data, such as names or number plates, in a note. You keep any rights you have in what you send, and you give Matera Capital Limited a free, worldwide, perpetual and irrevocable licence to use, adapt and publish it, including under the Open Database License 1.0. The contribution terms (ridebay-web.pages.dev/terms#contributions, version 2026-10-19) apply to every contribution.

8. Acceptable use

Do not send false or automated reports; try to get round the limits on reports; copy the bay data other than through the published open-data download; reverse engineer, overload or interfere with the service; or use Ridebay to identify, track or harass anyone. We may refuse contributions, block a Ridebay ID from contributing, or suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms.

9. The bay data and its sources

The Ridebay bay database is made available under the Open Database License 1.0 (ODbL), and anyone can download it. It contains data from:

The app lists every source with its notice in Settings → Data and sources.

10. Changes, severability and complaints

We may change these terms when the service or the law changes; we will show the change in the app before it takes effect, and the version date above changes. If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. To complain, write to contact@materacapital.com; we reply within one month. You can also use your statutory rights.

Ridebay contribution terms

Version: 2026-10-19

What a contribution is

A report that a bay is gone or suspended, a correction (cost, size, location or something else), a new bay, a confirmation of a bay, or an answer to "Did you use the bay?".

What you agree to when you send one

  1. It is accurate to your knowledge. You saw what you report, at the place you report it. Do not report what you have not checked, and do not send automated or repeated reports.
  2. It becomes open data. What you send is published as part of the Ridebay bay database under the Open Database License 1.0 (ODbL): anyone may use, share and adapt it, with attribution to Ridebay and its sources. Your Ridebay ID is never published.
  3. You give Ridebay the rights it needs. To the extent you have any rights in your contribution, you license it to Matera Capital Limited, free and without time limit, to publish it in the Ridebay database under the ODbL and to use it to run Ridebay.
  4. No one else's personal data. Do not put names, number plates, phone numbers or anything else that identifies someone in a note. We may remove a note that does.
  5. We decide what is published. Contributions are checked automatically and by moderators before they change the data; we may reject, edit or merge them, and an official council value is never overwritten by a report alone.
  6. Limits apply. Reports are limited per day; abuse can lead to your Ridebay ID being blocked from contributing.

Your data

Sending a contribution creates an anonymous Ridebay ID on your phone and sends your location with reports and new bays, to check you were there. How long each piece is kept, and how to delete it, is in the privacy notice (ridebay-web.pages.dev/privacy). Deleting your Ridebay ID unlinks your contributions; the facts you reported stay in the database.
